(CNN) - You’d have to be living under a rock not to know the CIA has a drone program.
That’s partly because government officials are happy to brag, unofficially, when a U.S. unmanned aerial vehicle takes out a terrorist leader, like the charismatic poet and strategist Abu al-Libi, Al Qaeda’s No. 2 guy.
So it’s funny that the CIA literally treats the drone program as a state secret. It won’t confim or deny that it has actually used drones to target and kill much of Al Qaeda’s leadership.
Who cares about all the secrecy when everybody knows it’s true? Why does it matter?
