Black voters wary, supportive of Obama

By Jim Roope, CNN

(CNN) - “Are you better off now than you were four years ago?" That commonly-asked question of  modern presidential elections is being answered in the negative by some African-Americans.

[:54] “The last four years for me, have been difficult. They’ve been hard.”

Angela Collins is a mother of six. She has a 12-year-old and a 16 year-old still at home, two more kids in college and two grown kids out on their own.

Collins is a hairdresser at a salon called, Hairitage, in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Inglewood.

Collins's business is also way down and she says her family has had to cut back to bare necessities.

She says she’s disappointed that President Obama did not deliver on many of his promises to improve the economy and education.

Still, African American support of Barack Obama is at 90-percent. That's according to a recent poll by Pew Research. Although Pew’s Associate Director Carroll Doherty says 11-percent of likely African-American voters say they are disappointed in the president’s first four years.

[3:51] "Obama has clearly lost some support among his base. He had strong support among women; that’s down a little bit from where it was in 2008. I think the one element of his base that’s remained pretty steady and consistent and overwhelmingly supportive is African-Americans."

Author, political analyst, community leader, and activist Earl Ofari Hutchinson says Collins’s story is one he hears all the time. And even if the expectations on President Obama were too high four years ago, he says Obama had to deliver.

[2:24] “If you don’t deliver, I mean immediately deliver because expectations are not something that just stretch out over time, they want immediate results. They want to see immediate action. They want to see something visual and tangible.”

He says what has led to some disillusionment is the fact that, when President Obama comes to Los Angeles, it's usually for a fundraiser with the rich and he fails to connect with his core supporters in the black community.

I don't really consider Obama black anyway. He is a half and half black and white. Unemployement is very high and especially among blacks so I don't know why a black person would want to vote for him. The economy is very very bad. We need to give someone else a chance. Vote against Obama in 2012.

And certainly NOT for that Silver-Spooned millionaire, Mitt "I really liked my black maid" Romney.

If all the terrible coments posted don't make black voters go vote for the president nothing will. We all know the repos have tried everyway they can to defeat this president. They have tried to shoot down every idea and bill he proposed. Some whites are so scared of a black man that they tried to question his birth and his religion. Sad sad people. President Obama is an honorable man and we need him for four more years. Vote Forward.

I'm not questioning his honor, but honor does not provide jobs or economic stimulus. He's had four years to get us out of this recession, and it has not happened. He's not proposing anything more then what he's already done, just stay the course. The current course is not working and it give no HOPE that it will. Meanwhile we continue to stagnate with no job growth, no hope of economic recovery, and the fear that "Am

I am Mormon and I voted for Obama in 2008. FInancialy,...we are worse off than we were 4 years. We are a mom and pop business owner. We work very hard, pay our bills, serve our fellow neighbors and live within our means. Obama has no plan for helping small businesses which in fact do hold this country together. I am voting for Romney in November and not because he is mormon but because I don't like the picture Obama is painting for our future and the future of our children. It does not matter to me what color a person's skin is. What matters to me is can he/she do the job and do it well.

Why can't we see through the games the conservatives are playing (divide). They have made President Obama's first term to look as if he failed on his promises and there are some people taking the bait. Facing the problems this president has had to deal with is not an overnight fix. We as everyday people should know that because when we are faced with problems in our lives they are not fixed overnight. Someone is probably trying to fix a problem that they were faced with a year or even two ago, so how do you figure the President will fix eight years of problems in just four? If you want to to vote out someone, reelect your Senators that is who needs to go they did not have you in mind at all it was their own political agenda.

What eight years of problems? It was Bush last year in office that was horrble. The reason the economy crashed was liberals forced banks to loan people money for houses they couldn't afford. Educate yourself..

The last four years have not been great for me, I own a small wedding planning business and business has been extremely slow. However, I knew that this was not going to be a easy ride, because of wha thte President walked into the White house with. Anyone with any type of intelligents knew that getting the country back on track would take more than 4 years. President Obama went tot he White House thinking that the Republicans woudl accept him over time and he found that was not the case. He could not make all the changes that were expected of him withou the house and the senate. This President is a good man and he wants to do what is right for America. Patience is what is required, not Rom-ney. Allow him the opportunity to do what is right, not what Rom-ney wants to do; make the rich richer, while preying on americans. Rom-ney has a record of selling our jobs to China, Rom-ney said out of his own month to let the OHIO car industry go under, he said that women do not deserve equal rights as men, womens health is not on his agenda. It is clear to me that Obama is our best choice for President if we want the country to recover without killing what is the heart of this country; the AMERICAN PEOPLE. It saddens me to heare that we as a people can not understand that we are in a critical area at this time. It will take all of us to make the difference.

Things are a lot worse than they were under Bush, and Bush had the 9/11 disaster within the first months of being elected, the devastation of Katrina, and 2 wars to deal with in his term. Also, Bush's domestic policies were far more to the Left than the Left would like to admit, which was part of the problem. Democrats had control of both the House and the Senate Obama's first 2 terms and did nothing of substance. I'll also go out on a limb here and say what most people won't say, that a majority of African Americans are willing to elect Obama again if though things are clearly worse solely based on the color of his skin, which is sad. We should elect the candidate that can do the job, race shouldn't be a factor.

There are many people saying that Obama 2 first years as president was under a democrat mayority control congress. Indeed. But, that is precisely why he has the chance to passed the health care reform act. That is a fact. But, we can't forgot as all of us could witness that the deal was NOT a bi-partisan one. Proven like is very hard for a president who has his best interest and great wish, to run a united country with the help of both parties. The reality was, he found a malignant obstacle called GOP at the congress. Where they prefered to play politics instead to look further for the best of USA. To me Our president has Delivered and accomplished a lot for his country even when he has been under a battle against a washington establishment very hard to get through. That is why, for the Hope we voted lets keep moving forward. Obama 4 more years!

black, white, brown, green or blue the facts are what they are:

-While the past 4 years there have been roughly 4,000,000+ jobs created roughly the same amount has been lost leaving us about even.

    - the Pres claims we have recieved all of the tax money loaned out to the failing companies ie auto maker and others this is incorrect as freddie mae and freddie mac have yet to pay back any of the borrowed as well as companies that still failed in terms of solyndra that has completely went bankrupt.

    - we continue to spend more money than we bring in as a country which has lead to an ever increasing deficit and aslong as we follow that pattern we will coninue to bleed money

    - the USA has understandably become war weary but the fact remains if we do not finish the tasks at hand we will undoubtedly have to return as we did in desert shield the fact remains there needs to be US presence in the middle east

    - when it comes to food stamps, welfare, and other govt handouts when are we going to mak ethese individuals earn that money. i work for a living and in doing so i must take a drug test and live by certain rules to recieve these benefits they should as well. Also, we need to create opportunities for individuals for job training, money managemnet, and basic life skills to help them advance themselves and better our lower class opportunities.

    - i myself am pro life i am however conflicted on what i believe is the right answer on this for America i do however have simple questions that maybe someone can answer. If a woman decides she doesnt want a baby and takes matters into her own hands drinking poison or anything else that can kill the baby she can be charged criminally for that
Also if a pregnant woman is murdered which is terrible the killer can be convicted of double murder why is their a difference if a baby is not considered a living thing if a woman wants to have a legal abortion

    - at the end of the day it really doesnt matter who wins the election without bipartisanship our country will never succeed in rebuilding our nations strength

While you are accurate that military presence costs money it also creates alot of jobs on the civillian side. dont forget WWII brought us out of th egreat depression. The problem with military spending is it has been unchecked for a vey long time with alot of wasteful spending. Just like alot ofother areas in our govt we are spending excess amounts of money on usesless things robotic squirrels or what could astronauts eat if they were to ever make it to mars do the research and see how much money these 2 projects cost its mind blowing.

In order to be a raciest you have to have the power to suppress entire ethnic group, so voting based on “race” is not racist. Black people do not vote race, they vote party period. Based on what you are implying black people did not start voting until there was a black president. For the record, YES black people, poor people, and women will all suffer under Romney. It is very stupid and just plain ignorant for any minority to feel like they will improve their quality of living under a man who is only concerned about people who look like him…… what did Romney say behind closed doors…47% of the country feel like they are victims and I can worry about them….unless you are making over a mill a yr. you are in the 47% he will NOT DO ANYTHING FOR! What is sad and a shame are people who hate the fact that the President is black and have NEVER given him a chance no matter what he does it will never be enough because he is not a white man.

You believe you have to make a million to be in the 57%? Nope. If you make less than 50k a year, you might still be in the 57% (depending on your deductions). I and my wife both make about 40k, so 80k together, we bring home about 45k and we pay income taxes (despite some heave mortgage deductions).

The 43% is the 43% percent who would not be helped by Romney lowering income taxes, because they are already not paying income taxes.

Those of us in the middle class are upset. We are upset that our tax rates are often higher than those with more money – but we understand why and are thankful that capital gains rates are low and help to grow our investments, 401k's, and pension funds. We are most upset, however, about how many people consume government services and yet contribute nothing back.

Most of us would be much happier, even with those who consume more than they contribute, so long as they contributed something (like a 1% universal tax on all income, including government support). Put some skin in the game if you want to whine – those of us paying taxes look at Romney's 14% tax rate and say "Thank God! That is 24 million dollars in tax money that we didn't have to pay!" We look at someone doing nothing with their life and living on $9,600 a year in government cheese and say "Wow! There is almost 10k in taxes we are going to have to pay."

So, the choice is a pragmatist who will say or do anything to reach his goals and get results for his company (Bain, the Olympics, Mass, and soon the USofA) or in ideologue who will follow his philosophy no matter the cost to the country, economy, or the lives of people because he believes it to be right and true (no matter the evidence to the contrary).

Thank you, I'll take the etch-a-sketch president who will do and make himself whatever he needs to be to do right by me and mine – to improve the economy, the status of the country, and his own goal of reelection.

The only time Obama has ever admitted his mistakes and changed his opinion was when he was coming clean about lying to us in the 2008 debates on his views on marriage. Even then, he pretended it was a change, and not a lie four years ago to get into office.

Adaptation is a sign of strength and a sure predictor of success. Obamas worship of the progressive liberal mantra does not serve the needs of the American people – communism failed, because a beautiful ideal like communism cannot work in the ugliness that is reality – and Obama is marching the country that direction because he cannot distinguish between his "hopes" and "dreams" and the fact that reality doesn't work that way.

We should be clear on this. Mr prez's dirty little secret is that his ideology is more important to him than his skin color. The fact that someone is black and he is half-black makes no difference. He doesn't like you any more than he likes Mitt Romney. He knows blacks will vote for him based purely on skin color, while he does nothing to help them any more than he helps anyone else. Verbally, he panders. Blacks are taken for granted by the dems, and have been for decades. For god knows what reason, they just don't want to open their eyes and see it.

I have news for obviously stupid mind, Obama did not win because he had the entire black vote, he won because a whole lot of white people voted for him. The black vote means nothing because black people are a minority, it is almost 50% more white people in the US then black people so Obama won because of the white vote, and he will win again because of the white vote, the women, the Hispanics, and the gays.

I clearly remember President Obama saying , "Yes we could if only things weren't so bad to begin with" and "don't get your hopes up to high, it would take just too much change to set things right".

Where do people get off thinking he said "Yes, we can" and he was the candidate of"hope and change". We liberals were all very patient with President Bush and didn't try to blame him for everything so why are conservatives trying to blame President Obama for everything?

John – maybe you didn't blame Bush for everything, but the President is still blaming him - for everything. When campaigning, obama said he would cut the debt in half, get unemployment at or below 5.4%, and any number of other things that he has not done. He didn't say I hope to get it done, he said he would do it. Once he became President he realized how much is involved in being the most powerful man in the world, and frankly I don't think he was ready for the job. Eventually a leader has to lead. The current president prefers to 'lead from behind', which by the way is an oxymoron.
Listening to his campaign, there was no doubt in his mind that this could be fixed, that could be fixed. Just elect me. Well that was done, and he has done nothing that is positive for our country. For the first 2 years, he had a democratic Congress, and could have gotten anything passed he wanted. But he didn't do anything except shove a poor excuse for a National health care project that 60% of this country absolutely hate or detest.
As recently as this past Thursday, he was still blaming Bush on some of the problems. You and some other Liberals may not have tried to blame the current situation on a previous administration, but obama has done nothing but that. That sir, is why the Conservatives are calling him out on his blame game.

As recently as this past Thursday, he was still blaming Bush on some of the problems. You and some other Liberals may not have tried to blame the current situation on a previous administration, but obama has done nothing but that. That sir, is why the Conservatives are calling him out on his blame game.

Do you forget the Congress refused to compromise on anything that was proposed even if it was a Republican idea? Their only goal for the last 4 years was to make Obama fail even if that meant hurting Americans. I am more determined to vote for Obama just to show those Republicans their plan failed. Next time they need to serve their voters, not their political parties.!

John, what are you smoking. "We liberals didn't blame Bush"???? Not only did you blame him when he was in office but you have continued to blame him up until now? You have got to be kidding me. Obama has been a dismal failure as a president. I for one am not surprised. Of course, as a patriotic American I would loved to have seen him succeed BUT as a thinking human being I realized that the man had NO experience that would have convinced me that he could be president. I wouldn't hire him to run a taco stand. If possible, he may even be worse in foreign affairs. He proved to be a naive immature dupe within the international community. No doubt Putin, China and the Arab nations want him to remain in office. He is good for them and BAD for the U.S.

Those taking taking digs at the President are clearly FOS particularly where unemployment is concerned.

The entire world experienced an economic crises beginning in 2008 and continues in recession for the most part and I bet you would say that's Obamas fault too!

Of course none of you care to know that as long as 10 years after the beginning of The Great Depression US unemployment was as high as 14% until WWII started and industrial demand kicked in!

I propose that no one elected to the office of President could fair as well or have so great an impact!

And, as with the Great Depression, there is still a long tough road ahead and the President has repeatedly said as much!

His detractors, particularly those who vote in the House and Senate would do better to help govern, as opposed to impeding him--While the middle-class is squeezed, the poor grow poorer and the wealthy sit back on their heels, lining their pockets and protecting their ass-ets!

All the while, Republican’s with the Tea Party are trying to sell the American public on the idea that we should already be out of this mess-all the while playing obstructionist politics and doing a good job at it too, based on so much of the vacuous drivel I've read on this board.

Tell me, what of the 3-4 trillion big business is sitting on?

Now that is a real low down dirty shame!

well people should realize immediate action is very difficult especially in a democracy. If we want immediate action mind as well live in a monarchy or oligarchy. Recessions and economic recovery isn't cannot go in a radical rate for example during the great depression it took us almost 2 decades to recover from economic turmoil. American people should learn to be patient and understand that recovery will happen but it will take time.

There's nothing wrong with the President’s economic and jobs growth policies, the components of which he's been trying to get through the Republican dominated house for the better part of his first term, only to have them filibustered to death.

Romney and the rest of the Republican party would have America think Obama's legislative proposals for boosting the economy and bringing down the deficit would cause 'more' damage to the economy and the country. Yeah right--After first compromising with the Republicans by extending the Bush era tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, Obama simply wants to return them to the same levels as when Clinton was in office ( for the wealthiest 2%) and business was booming!

Hey, these cuts have been in place for 10+ years and certainly haven't had the trickle down effect of creating jobs, especially during this period of economic crises. And, if anything, have only added to the national debt--–with companies sending all the jobs overseas even with these breaks--–Say What!

The fact is, if instituted, the President’s economic policies would get things moving as they should and would benefit all in both the near and long term. The Republicans certainly don't want that under an Obama administration as there would be too great a chance he'd be re-elected!

      How cynical is that America!!!!

Several things: O has been throwing gasloine on the fire. He has made nearly NO proposals. He has bailed out a sector of the car company with Chinas money, Bailed out some greedy banks with chinas money, and has in no way forced those same banks to do anything for the people in return. The banks have hoarded the money and left people to rot, collecting their homes, smiling all the way....modifications were a joke. This IS the O administrations fault.!!!! It is his fault. No adversary kept him from holding those banks accountable to help the people with that money. O has an agenda, he wants to weaken the economy and the middle class MORE, to the point that is totally breaks down , so the gov can become the hero at that point, and 'support everything'...called 'socialism. Problem is...there have to be some wage earners, ...and soon, as Margaret Thatcher said 'you run out of other peoples money", and they cease to care anymore if they make any to support the welfare state. But O thinks its a great plan that somehow equalizes. It destroys the souls of the people, they get listless, bored with life, and resentment grows, but no change can happen then, it is a trap, it has never worked , it makes NO ONE happy and it never wll, all the races have to work hard, and not be over taxed....or nothing works. I just talked to a afriend of mine in Germany....the stories are horrible, about how the gov is in their personal business all the time...forcing her daughter to train for the olympics, when the daugher has no desire to, becasue it was 'noticed by the gov, that she has 'exceptional swimming skills"..... We in the USA don't even know what it is like to not be completely free. The voters voting their skin color and their hand-uots are selling out the country in the most self absorbed dangerous cowardly prideful manner. And these are the MILD facts. What about destroying our ability to protect ouselves..safety... in a wildly crazy world full of violance and take over artists..that would love to have a crack at the old,' bleeding and half defenseless', 'has been' super power??? O has been destroying our strength, cutting and cutting the military...the coast guard alone, has taken hit after hit... we are becoming the laughing stock of our enemies. O blamed a movie for 4 patriot deaths...yes he DID, I'm tired of hearing he is an advicate of free speech....He told the mother of our dead special forces patriot, that it was a movie that caused her sons death ( per her direct testimony)..WHAT???? What the hell is this president doing??? Then he spends taxpayer $ to APOLOGIZE????? beyond sick. Let me summarize for you...we have a commi pres in our White house, which is disgusting to every founding father, whose goals are covert, Proven by tons of research into his personal past...in the last 3 to 4 years, and documented in many places. This imposter watches our greatest patriots get sodomized humiliated and murdered, and does nothing, but stall, so his 'doing nothing' doesn't hurt his re election, then gets his Sec of state to 'bail him out' (coward),becasue he can't stall long enough. He says preping for the debates is a 'drag', and his wife has 'never' before, ever, been proud of her country. He promotes drilling for oil everywhere but here....did away with the 'work incentive deduction', which raised my taxes this year by 800., when I can't afford to send my child to college, who has dreams of a doctorate degree, and will never see that...( we make a dollar too much...we're not 'poor enough'.... but we can be forced to send other peoples kids to college...look people, we need to back this welfare state up to the bare minimum for the truly broken, and as Reagan said, the best social program,...IS a job. Question... does Obama want jobs to increase???, I'm not going to argue that point...Please just take 3 hours, and find 'Dreams of My Real Father' on NETFLIX, go see OBama 2016, at the movies, and u might want to catch'media malpractice' also on NETFIX...What have you got to lose???If you see them and feel they are full of non credible evidence....so, ...you got a good laugh and lost 3 whole hrs. If you see the live clips, videos, the hundreds of documented facts, articles, poems, writings, HISTORY, evidences, testimonies, and taped words...right out of O's mouth LIVE, over the years, and his 'rise to' his gov positions, his mentors, friends philosophies and what they have all done for each other...and you see nothing WRONG... then go ahead and vote for the guy. As skeptical as I am, I saw things that were absolutely undisputable and dangerous in these documentaries, that make his behavior the last 4 years make total sense. If u vote him back in u will be answering to your kids one day for the severe situation they will find themselves in. Romney is by far the lessor of the two evils. He is a businessman. The USA, is a huge business/entity, and only the general principles of good business, will make the mega business run in a way that keeps all the 'cogs' ( people ) taken care of , thriving, both in the realm of the young and working and the old that need to be cared for after many years of service. Less gov, more PEOPLE and their dreams 'going hard after success' in a free capitalistic market= the greatest nation in the world and the greatest people in the world, and the country that everybody in the world wants to come over and join...except those that call us the ' infadel'...and want to kill us...HOW DID WE GET THEM INSIDE our white house???LIsten people of color, nobody is agaisnt you, white people love u and want you to excell with all the intellgence you possess, which is the same amount as ours. We are a team...but everybody pulls their weight in the middle class team. My amily has never had big educations, I just have this one child, that wanted a doctorate really bad. My entire family has worked hard with no hand outs or special hand -ups, and I have 6 adult children. I raised them all, being a single mom I just got married recently at 53. If O is not relelected...it doesnt mean a black man can't run this country....it just means that we are still waiting for a really GOOD black leader to come forward, and he will...I would vote for that man. O is NOT that guy. Relax, you have nothing to prove thru this man.

Romney's religion was founded by an avid racist man who had dozens of wives, claimed an angel came to him and gave him the book of Mormon, yea right! You know, where tens and hundreds of millions were made by a relatively small percentage of folks while a 'vastly larger number' lost their pensions, saw life savings shrivel-up and home values plummet; all while having to dance to the tune of the reckless, feckless Wall Street, Bain Capital, Uber-Capitalist types and their allies in Congress!

It's the unmitigated morass and mess that President Obama has been trying to navigate and rectify with zero, I repeat, zero Republican support throughout his entire term in office. Speak to that Independent! Oh-and good luck with Romney!

In the debates and many of Romney’s anti-Obama commercials, Romney continues to emphasize the presidents ‘failed economic policies’ (as crushing the middle class).

The point is-–Few, if any of the president’s economic policies were actually instituted, outside of his own administrative efforts, because of a recalcitrant, Republican led House!

The President needs to ‘hammer this home’ whenever Romney mentions ‘his failed economic policies’, in addition to the fact that he compromised during their last go round by extending the Bush era tax cuts for the wealthy--which brings up another key point.

Where is the investment and how have the cuts helped the economy? These tax cuts have been in effect now through 5 to 7 years of the Bush administration as well as Obama’s entire term in office!

If they were going to help at all wouldn’t they have helped by now--as Romney and entire Republican party have proposed they would!

I am so tired of people blaming President Obama for thier problems. I am an African American woman. If a woman decides to have six children, it is her responsibility to provide for her children. What plans did this mother put in place if she had any finiancial hardship. The answer is none, that is why she is trying to blame someone else. Anyone with common sense knew that it was going to take more than four years to fix the economic problems this country is going through. If you would follow your politics and check on what the congress is doing, you would see how hard it is to get anything accomplished because most of them only focus on their reelections, they are not going to support anything that may be new or unpopular, even if it is in the best interest of the citizens. When president Obama need his so called supporters to make phone calls and go out and speak on his behalf to everyday people, I bet you were too busy living your lifestyle still continuing to make unhelathy financial choices and now instead of blaming yourself, you want to blame him. America it is time to grow up and stop blaming other people for your choices.

      Nikki,

I am a white American and a Conservative. I am unemployed and I do not blame my problems on Obama. What I blame him for is the direction he is taking this country and the debt he is accumulating with nothing to show for it. Everything this man has done has done nothing to unite this country or make it better in any way. Everthing he has not been able to accomplish is because he had no intentions of doing them in the first place. The blame game is his way of making uneducated people think he still has their back......far from it. I welcome anyone reading this to give me Obama specific plans for the following issues: Immigration Reform, Deficit Reduction, Sequestration, Jobs, Energy. You see the problem is, while he says Romney has no plan, it is again an attempt to keep your mind off the fact he, himself, has no specific plans. Romney has a plan if you will take the time to look it up. The problem with Black Americans is they believe and will vote for Obama simply because he is "Black" and no other reason. What's at stake if we continue on the current place is far greater than one man. It's about our future and the future of every American born hereafter. Some people are waking up and other are still drinking the Hope and Change Kool-Aid. Have you noticed that it's not as sweet as you thought it was?

Does she expect him to knock on her door and say get dress, I have a job for you.
She didn't expect that from the last five presidents but now she wants to put the blame on President Obama.
I understand her frustration but it should be towards the president it should be towards the just say no congress and GW Bush who single handedly brought this country to a stand still. President Obama has done a great job with the hand that he has been dealt. It's been said that 12 million jobs will be created over the next 10 years regardless of who wins the white house and I hope she gets one the jobs., but she should be focusing on other issues that matter to her, like women issues and the way Romney and Ryan are trying to take away women rights, they have no respect for women.

It is interesting how many African American's are upset because President Obama according to them has not made good on his promises of 4 years ago. Let me give you a little history. In 1964 Congress pass the Civil Rights Act. The legislation attempted to deal with the problem of African Americans being denied the right to vote. In a nut shell, the Civil Rights Act prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex or national origin. For years our ancestors have been Citizens of the United States of America, but were denied the Right to Vote until 1964. So, I pose the question "Did you ever questioned the Presidents prior to President Barack Obama, "Are you better off than you were four years ago? No. Why, because you just voted. So to the lady with six children, don't blame your circumstances on President Obama. Stop looking at your circumstances as a negative and turn it into a positive. If you don't know your history pertaining to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (use google to learn about it). born under John F. Kennedy and signed by Lyndon Johnson.

      In reply to the following:

"So to the lady with six children, don't blame your circumstances on President Obama. Stop looking at your circumstances as a negative and turn it into a positive."

You gotta be kidding! The most powerfull person in the world who (when he took office) knows that economy the is the single most important issue for the next four years, puts the economy on the back burner, makes the socialization of the healthcare system the main priority, then addresses the economy by giving the greedy banks enough money to keep them out of the red by providing money to be loaned (TARP) so difficult you have to perform magic to jump through the hoops to get the loans, then sinks 90 BILLION in the green industry thinking that was going to stimulate the economy (when in actuality it simply lost the money and jobs it created as the industry went "belly up"), should not be blamed for the crushing circumstances the lady has had to go through for the last year!
Thats like an emergency hospital saying to person who is bleeding profusely:

"Wait a minute, we can't treat you until we figure out how you are going to pay for this treatment. So just sit there and bleed happily because when were done you'll be able to recieve treatment that we can afford".

I always am surprised when I hear people say the President got everything he wanted. The jobs bill was blocked by the Republicans. Blocked taxes on companies who ship jobs overseas; Dream Act; Political disclosure; small business jobs act; anti rape amendment; benefits for homeless vets; Wall Street tax reform; 9/11 first responders insurance;, I think you get the point. Many things could have been better were it not for a group of people who said their SOLE JOB WAS TO MAKE SURE THE PRESIDENT WAS A ONE TERM PRESIDENT. Now, they were doing this for the country? Really!

You fail to inform that the O Administration did not submit the American Jobs Act until 2011 when they knew they had to do something about job losses that had been occuring for the last three years! Why did they wait that long knowing that something like this should have occurred in 2008 immediately when they took office to help the economy before it collapsed into the Great Recession. They felt that Green Jobs would compensate for the jobs when everyone knew that was ridiculous. The economy was solidly based on foreign Oil and a transition to alternate fuel resources where profits for everyone can be made and dependence on forign oil was eliminated was decades in the making (not months). First things First!

Also the Jobs Act would have increased taxes on everyone that made $200,000/year or more which would have burdened small business (the very economic entity that would have provided a large portion of the stimulus that was necessary to keep us from the Great Recession). It also increased taxes on corporations doing "offshoring" of jobs (creating additional burdens to stifle economic growth). The way to reduce offshoring is to provide incentives for not doing it, not punishment with taxes. Punishing with taxes does nothing more then add to the stifling of the economy.

Then there was the tax on the rich who provide the means by which most jobs are created. This would have decreased jobs not provide them. You don't bite the hand that feeds you.

The key to coming out of the Great Recession is to provide by all means, jobs to all sections of the economy: private businesses, public businesses, non-profits, local governmental, state governmental, federal government, and military. Get everyone working as soon as possible. Don't wait three years as the nation's economy bleeds, and make a priority of socializing health care and American businesses (Banking and automotive).

Tell the whole story. Not selected information skewed to hide the truth.

A lot of people aren't better off than they were four years ago, but a lot of people are. We shouldn't judge Obama's successes or lack thereof on who still needs help, but on those who needed help but no longer do. In the very best of times, there will be a certain percentage of people who are unemplayed. That's a given. America is making a comeback, albeit a slow one. If the Republicans insist that Obama is doing it wrong and want to go in the other direction, what will they accomplish? More resession? More unemployement? It seems that that is what will happen if we change the way the government is doing things. Things are finally going good again. Let's not change directions because the "good" isn't happening fast enough.

I have seen people from all walks of life, some even homeless pull themselves up and took steps in order to change the trajectory of their lives. It's all about what you are willing to do for yourself to change your life, it's not about what the government can do for you. There is enough laws and programs out there to help anyone, that is, who is willing to help themselves.

I have read on here and on other boards people who disagree with an Obama supporter and are labeled "haters" and racists. How convenient, and isn't it a peculiar luxury to be able to call people who disagree with your failed policies and poor character, racists and "haters." How could anyone argue intelligently with such people who would vote purely on the basis of race. I would like to remind you of a technicality that is often ignored: President Obama is not black. He is of mixed racial heritage. I am amazed at how quickly Black Americans promote his "blackness" while in the same motion ignore his "whiteness." I have never seen so much racism in the mainstream as I have seen since Obama has taken power...and by racism I mean racially biased speech, racially biased favoritism, straw men are created on a racially motivated assembly line to create the impression of a growing white-on-black racism in this country, when in fact, it is the opposite that is occurring. Equality means just that, equality of the races. Not a reversal of racism, now making whites the target of black racist remarks. Where racism exists, including favoritism based upon ones race, equality does not. Racial equality does not mean that it is now the Black American's turn to behave in a racist fashion. It is too bad that Barrack Obama is our first black president...there are a multitude of more qualified, more productive, and far more ethical black men and women who would have done a far better job than he is doing and has done. What a shame that so many back him for the black part of his heritage...but in the absence of talent and capabilities, I suppose that is all he really has left, isn't it?

Obama has been a grand disappointment for blacks but most of them are too blind to see it. Here they finally get the first black president, which took a large segment of the white population to happen and he turns out to be so far to the left we are on the verge of tipping into oblivion as a nation. Just about any other black president would have been viewed as the person to heal the nation and improve race relations. Instead he has divided us more than ever and brought us to the point of bankruptcy. Blacks have suffered more under Obama than any other president. More poverty, less employment, and a lower percentage of blacks are now homeowners than in the last 60 years. It may be a long time before they get back to where they were in 2008.

70% of the country is white despite what liberals want you to think. In addition the Latin American population is now larger then the african american population. As far as this article, the president should do his fair share to help poor undereducated blacks but at the end of the day these people need to come together and do it themselves. Its not americas fault that your killing eachother, smoking crack and growing up in broken homes. Take some responsibility for yourselves. And please dont give me that bullsh** about how I am automatically a racist for using words like "they" as if Im stereotyping all african americans. Get over it. There are plenty of exceptions but unfortunately the stereotypes of inner city blacks are mostly true. A sad fact that people dont want to admit. Liberals are so quick to play the race card its ridiculous. Look at the voter ID nonsense. If you are stupid or lazy enough not to have a photo identification in this day and age then you dont deserve to vote. Also these 47% comments. Nobody wants to admit that Romney was right. A lot of Americans who are either poor, lazy or have a sense of entitlement will always vote democrat and there is nothing he can do about it. Its sad to think how brainwashed my generation is. These days its "hip" to be a closed minded flaming liberal. And for the record I think gay marriage should be legal, I think abortion should be a womans choice, I think stem cell research is important to the future of mankind, I think that while people should have the freedom of religious expression it is vital that we keep it out of politics. However, all of this is not enough for me to automatically vote Democrat. There are more pressing issues at hand. Not only is the economy in shambles but our generation (im 23) is perhaps the laziest we have seen in American history. (Ya ya I am sure someone will respond with "speak for yourself" and give me some story about how hard they work, w/e good for you) We all feel entitled, we feel that the government owes us something. We complain about our financial situations as we buy $400 iphones, expensive cars and eat out constantly. Occupy Wall Street is the perfect example. For months on end hundreds of people occupied Wall Street and other financial districts around the world because they wanted their "fair share" and Wall Street reform. Who are these people? Ill tell you, they are a bunch of hipster brats, stoners and "trendy" middle aged crazies. No hardworking rightminded American has the time to sit in a park for a month. Everybody CAN find a job. But these spoiled college students think that just because they get a degree they are entitled to good full time employment. Many feel that because they have a degree they are "too good" to work a part time job. GTFO. After college I bussed tables for 30 hours a week until I could find full time employment. With just a part time bussing job I was able to pay rent for a studio apartment, pay utiities and feed myself every month. Its called budgeting! Anyway ive strayed away from whatever my original point was and am sick of ranting. Bring on the haters.

We are killing each other on the srteets, in the jails, and in the womb , which has minimalized us as an economic and political power. The fact that more than 50% of our households are without fathers and 50% of our children never graduate from high school puts our children, especially our boys, on the road to exctinction. Until my people understand that we must take control of our futures and stop looking to Black Moses for help we will continue down the path of re-enslavement. When those who have become dependent experience the liberation that comes with earning a paycheck for themselves, rather than a handout from the government, they will feel better about themselves. This is why we need a job-creator as our president. Not an excuse maker, not one who enables the poor to stay poor, or the dependent to remain so, such as Obama does. in the 2008 election blacks voted 95 percent for Obama even though historically blacks vote the Democratic ticket only67 percent of the time. I expect that 95 percent to fall some this election due to the widespread dissatisfaction among those that think he didn't hold up to his promises. But color will still play are large part for this section of the voters and expect to see around 90 percent of blacks vote for Obama. And that is the travesty here. That somewhere around 25 percent of blacks will vote for him based not on the job he's done, but on his color.

Wrong. Al Gore received 90% of the black vote. Clinton got 83 and 84% (which by the way was historically low)
Dukakis got 90% of the black vote and Walter Mondale got 90% of the black vote. Black voters vote overwhelmingly Democratic. But go ahead and try to make it about skin color.

It's not a travesty. It's common sense. Obama has bent over backwards NOT to appear beholden to black Americans, as he correctly feared a racist white backlash (which came anyway quite cynically in the form of the Tea Party and other elements). Remember the New Yorker cover with Obama and his wife dressed as black radicals? There was always a racist white suspicion of his ability to be fair, even from moderate whites. Clearly he sympathizes with the special burdens blacks (and other minorities) face in this country, which whites don't suffer and don't appreciate. But he understands he's president of the whole country, not just blacks. Blacks and many whites for that matter, correctly appreciate that Obama is mortal and unable to reverse in just 4 years the damage created by Reagan, the Bushes etc over most of the past 25 years. They also correctly perceive that Romney will NOT be president of the whole country, just 53% of it or less, the whites, and primarily rich whites. The travesty is that more people don't see Romney for the shill and phony he really is.

Unfortunately this is the result when your vote is not in danger of being lost. American's in general need to realize that the only way to force politicians to truly care about you is to show you are willing to not vote for them. This goes for both parties, it really annoys me that there are "safe" demographics. She notes "when President Obama comes to Los Angeles, it's usually for a fundraiser with the rich", this is what I'm talking about. He has no need to care about the African-American's that don't have money for his campaign, as far as he is concerned they will vote for him either way. The saddest part is that he is probably right.

I am not your sweetie, nor am I your sister. I was not eligible for the PELL grant because my parents earned too much back in 1980 when I graduated. I was, however, able to take advantage of Affirmative Action, which was the only way I was able to attend and receive 2 degrees from a Pac 10 University back in the day. Up until Obama took office and failed to stop companies from off shoring jobs, as he promised to do, I was earning in excess of $100K annualy. I voted for him because he promised to do that, but when he got in office he flipped the script in the name of globalization, which was started by Clinton, and in an effort to save the economies of the BRIC nations he created a loop hole so that US employers could continue to send jobs to Brazil, Russia, India, and China, and I lost that income, along with thousands of other Americans I am struggling to recover from that and age 50 I probably never will. This is the story of many mature Americans who counted on Obama to fulfill that promise. Obama works for the BRIC nations and Mexicoand until Black folks wake up and understand that we mean nothing to him, we will continue to see our children falling to the wayside while foreigners replace us at every level of education and the workforce. WAKE UP, BROTHER, and stop snorting the drug of denial and complacency.

If anyone who are in their right mind think that Mr. Obama really want to see black or middle class people in this position they are not listening to him. This President inherited a really bad deal. And this has crippled his plans to make things better in 4 years. You all can see that he is trying. The GOP HOuse blocked him in every way they can. Now you all are doing the same thing. Does anyone keep up with what is going on in the House. I hope you all who are planning to fire him know that you are going back to the same policies of the GOP that got you in this position. Mr. Obama is the right track. His plan will work guys it just take more time because of what he inherited. Give him another 4 years. Name 1 plan that Romney outline to bring back jobs and fix the economy? He is just going to piggy back on the plans that Obama put in place. All the experts said that Obama is on the right track and no one else could have done any better considering the fiscal cliff.

The unemployment for Blacks during the days of Grey Davis went from 10% to over 25% before the Republicans took office. Please do some research and you will find that the movement to replace Blacks with illegal Mexicans has drastically increased steam under Democratic leadership.

HIPPI CHICK: That is the most asinine statements I've today! It's a generalization, stereotypical and racist! How in the world can you think that Blacks (under educated) as you say, are affected the way you stated? Blacks in America are resilient and although disappointed with some about the President, their faith has always been strong while at the same time believe that others deserve a shot at the American dream also. You are offensive with your one sided idealism and racial comments.

Are we as a people, so brain washed that we cannot see that Obama has dropped us for a chance to gain favor with the Mexicans who he is using to replace us? In fact, most of the democratic leadership has turned their backs on the Black vote because we are only 13% of the population while the Mexicans are now 50% of the population. He no longer needs our votes to be President, so he is refusing to represent us in any way shape or form unless, of course, we happen to be rich Black folks like jay Z and Beyonce he has no need for us.

You will need to produce that documentation, as there are several documents out there that dispute it. What you probably read was that 18% OF BLACK, which does not reresent 18% of the US population. ENROLLED in college but less than 1/2 actually obtained degrees. And what about those who are not being educated at all? They are headed for economic re-enslavement. That is the majority of our children and PELL grants will never, ever do a damn thing to help them.

She always intervenes on behalf of the Repugs and always allows them to get the last word in. Notice how they insist on doing this in every interview they perform. But I've digressed. My initial point was that they could have found ample people in much better situations who are a little disapoointed in the last four year...me for example...high level of education, makes six figures, blah blah blah. However, I know that the alternative is not an option. I have family and friends who earned, depend on and deserve the very programs Romney is trying to eliminate while at the same time advocating increased military spending on stuff even the military leaders don't want...i.e. refurbishing thousands of tanks which are just sitting in a bone yard not being used. They may not pay as well, it may require me to work more hours to make ends meet, but I do what I have to in order to survive. I don't count on the government to help me out, even though it's available to me. I'm too proud for that. The United States is not about guarantees, it's about opportunity. That's what has made us the envy of the world, the most propserous nation in the history of mankind. America unleashed the human spirit, in return it became great.

The envy of the world, eh? Well I've traveled this world more than once and that's not the consensus that I hear. We are far less educated, wealth disparity is out of control, you're "opportunity" of success is miniscule compared to Germany, Canada, UK, Sweden, Japan and so many more countries.

Of coarse he does not care about the middle class or the poor, his actions speak louder than words. Always surrounding himself with the rich like move stars, Warren Buffet, and the CEO of GE.

If we could pull more brain washed Blacks out of the pit of complacent politically color blinded thought we would be doing a great service to our people. Do not sstop, talk to every Black person who will listen and do not let them discourage you from your efforts to preserve a piece of America for your children. If your child had your credit card number and charged something you didnt want it still came on your bill and you had to pay for it.Well thats what happemed to the president but he cant call the credit card company and dispute it, he has to just except it. So stop crying about what you dont have and allow him to fix what the other side really don't want you to have. @ Ghostriet....he fought to protect Pell grants for illegal immigrants and opened the door for states to allow the children of illegal immigrants to pay In-State fees instead of the more costly Out-of-State fees. here in Cali the State Universities have basically made it impossible for the children of legal US citizens to afford an education while they are now providing discouted rates for the children of illegal immigrants. This is because of Obama's failure to protect the children of US citizens in an effort to gain favor from Mexicans, who he is using to replace poor and under educated Blacks and whites in education and the workforce at all levvels, in an effort to gain their support, as they offer him more votes than do Blacks and poor whites. Pleae get out of the pit of complacent politically correct thought and stop being afraid to criticize Black Moses.

And I think you are the one that thought he was a deity. I figured he'd just by another politician. And since that is what he is, why would you expect him NOT to pander to every other group? You speak of not being politically correct, well the reality of all this is the man is trying to get re-elected. Period. To expect more out of him is to not be based in reality.

I think the country knows, even though they don't all admit it, that Obama has not fulfilled all his promises for multiple reasons....two of which are:
    1) kinda busy with this whole economic collapse thing and
    2) kinda hard with a Congress that is intent on make government fail while he is in office to secure no second term...

If we can make Congress more equally divided so that a few swing votes can be negotiated on bills, you will see the promises of hope and change come to reality. No super majorities on either side...make is possible to get a majority, though, by working across aisles.

Black people across this country have been waiting patiently for Obama to do something to improve the educational nightmare that our children suffer through daily. Although "No Child Left Behind" had its flaws it made drastic strides in improving schools in Black neighborhoods. We expected Obama to do something to take that lead to the next level and he has not done that. In fact, he has done more to help the children of illegal immigrants than he has to help the children of Black and poor white children. It is time for Black folks to climb out of the pit of complacent politically correct thought and tell Obama that he will not get our votes unless he lays out a plan to improve conditions for our children and stop pandering to Mexicans in an effort to use them to replace Blacks in the workforce at all levels. If we, as Black folks, continue to allow him to move in this direction, we will see the economic re-enslavement of Blacks by hispanics within the next 20 years. We need to tell him that we will not vote for him because he is afraid to help us. In this case no representation is better than fearful representation. Time for us to protest the vote to make him wake up and smell the coffee.

You are trying to pursuade the "Black man & woman" to not vote for Obama. So what do you think the Republicans are going to do for the Blacks – The Republicans don't care what happens to the Low Income Blacks and Whites and you think by putting Romeny in the White House that it is going to change anything. What are you'll thinking? They are only out for themselves "The Rich" they want to cut so many things. Education is not good, but what makes you think under the Republicans that it will get better in the poor neighborhoods? It didn't when they was in the White House before. Bad education didn't just happen in the last 4yrs. It was going on for a while and Bush was in the White house 8yrs before Obama. Why didn't it get better then? "By the way are you really Black? The Blacks say he should do this and he should do that. Give me a break. He can't do anything with the Republicans not passing what he wants. That is why we have to take the control of the Republicans out of Congress. All you'll see is that he is not getting any thing done. You know for a fact that the Republicans said that they will not pass anything he has put before them because they don't want him to be President for a 2nd term. Why won't they pass his bills. Because first of all they don't want him to succeed. They don't want him to go down in history as doing good and being Black. This way they can always say that the First Black President was a failure and we won't put another Black Man in the White House again for God know how many years. Like I said Hippie Chick are you Black or White? Are you Republican or Democrat?

This is where one has to ask themselves some hard questions before they enter the voting booth. Just because I am a member of the LDS church does not mean my vote automatically goes to Gov. I cut over one million board feet in three years and lifted over 200,000 tons of green lumber off the mill by hand. I finally graduated with a Master's degree and a Nursing Home Adminstrator License. As my grandpa once said to me "If you think you need a helping hand, look down at the end of your arm and you will find one there." People today think work will kill them, or they feel they are above laboring. You have to work hard to achieve in this country, but opportunity abounds.

As the story tells, if you listen to it, the disappointment is not in Mr. Obama but in the fact that in the last four years the improvements expected did not happen. Mrs. Collins and Mr. Hutchinson in the story admit that Mr. Obama stepped into troubled times and a somewhat hostile opposition in Congress. They are not blaming. They are disappointed but believe that given another four years, the president can improve the economy, jobs and education. That's what the story illustrates. Respectfully.

Really, she couldn't support her children realistically 10 years ago. Now she wants to blame the president because a bad economy hasn't improved more? Maybe we need to think about having careers that will sustain our families before we over populate society. I'm sick of some black people saying they expected the president to improve things for us as a people. If they were paying attention to Congress they would realize he's had his hands tied by a Republican Congress. Furthermore, if you voted for our president because he's African American that shows a lack of intellect I cannot comprehend.

Well, I'm going to give you a response tough guy. You have not done anything, so spare me your lecture kid. Until, you walk in the shoes or live the life of anybody Black, then you know nothing about them wise guy much less lecture to them. Everybody in this country does not have the same oportunity. Mitt Romney is a perfect example. His father was on welfare. His mother was on welfare.

The U.S. Government gave assistance to him. It was the U.S. government that provide for his father's education. Mitt Romney's father believe in government assistance to the poor. He was in charge of HUD under President Nixon. His mother believed in Abortion Rights. His mother is on tape, claiming that she was thankful for the welfare system of the United States when his father lost everything in Mexico. You know nothing kid. If it wasn't for the Federal Government, Mitt Romney wouldn't have been able to get into those nice schools he got into.

Then you want to talk about African Americans? The same African Americans whose ancestors were slaves in this country? The African Americans whose parents and grandparents were denied equal access to education, jobs and the right to make a decent living? Just why do you think Affirmative Action existed? These are the chjildren of the same African Americans that fought in American Wars? The same children of African Americans, that fought in this Country's Civil War? Is that who you are talking too? Tell me this kid? Just what American War did Mitt Romney or his family ever fought in for this country, to think he can disparage the children of those who actually spilt their blood for this country? Mitt Romney has no moral grounds. I tell you this, as a U.S. veteran, that has had family fought and died for this country. The benefits, that I got, was promised to me. Everything I paid in, is deservedly mine. The bottomline, Anerica don't owe you or Mitt Romney anything. You are the one that owe America and so does Mitt Romney. It was our country that helped his father and mother when they fled Mexico. It was my government and the people you thrash government. And if you don't like it, Get the Hell out!

Yes its a lot better for folks like "JZ". Carmelo Anthony, and Oprah and other rich black people.
But for your average American Black person or any other people of color. Opportunities are becoming less and less under Obama. The BLS U-6 unemployment rate for youths is above 35%. It was never this high under Bush.

As a black female, I started my small business under Obama's Administration. I made the choice for me and my family. I will not leave it up to a politician (black or white, dem or repub) to decide my future.

“Just trust me, I know what to do”, that is what Romney asks and what he offers. That is a whole lot to ask and actually very risky; of course, he depends on faulting Obama for everything just to get people receptive. However Obama has accomplished quite a lot, which is obvious when you put the criticism aside and look at reality. He hasn’t accomplished all we want but then the Republicans have done absolutely nothing and even worse, in just stubbornly blocking and arrogantly faulting all efforts while putting their political ambitions above all else, regardless of the costs to the people. We know where Obama wants to go and what he wants to do but what can we know about Romney?

Romney’s history, his claim for expertise and his statements all address the financial as his area of credit, so what do we know about him there? At Bain he provided investors with good returns as he cut jobs, used China connections and exploited company assets; actually hurting far more people than he helped. On the personal side we know he is quite wealthy from inherited money, investments and Bain and that he succeeded in using tax loop holes and advantages to pay very low taxes, far lower than most would expect (you have to wonder if he intends to protect those tax loop holes and advantages). As his main offering he declares he is going to cut taxes for everyone and be financially responsible if elected, but what does that mean?

He says 47% are “freeloaders” and don’t pay taxes, so he isn’t going to do anything for 47% of the people, how about the rest? He claims he will cut taxes by 20% across the board and that will mean a little to most but then he says he is going to close loop holes and cut deductions but won’t say which – mortgage interest? real estate taxes? medical? what? He says he wants all people to be sharing in the burden and you have to wonder if the 47% should worry. He says he will give people better returns on investments and proposes to cut dividend, capital gains, estate, gift, ,, taxes, but while those have real meaning for the very wealthy, 90% would get little or no benefit there and really only the very top would significantly gain. All of this is intended to go on top of the Bush Tax Cuts, which are already heavily weighted, like these, to favor the very wealthy.

He talks about balancing the budget and proposes cutting programs that he would determine aren’t needed or aren’t doing the job ... but again he won’t say which and while the very wealthy aren’t personally concerned about most government programs, they do mean a whole lot to many others. When Mr. Romney says he “knows what to do”, it once again is to cater to the very wealthy, the 1%, and to con the people, the 99%. His, like Ryan’s, strong supporters are “the money” and they demand their satisfaction as return for their money, power and influence given. Romney-Ryan offer the better than 90% little other than propaganda, as Romney-Ryan are completely committed, again as “puppets”, to serve ‘the money”. To return to “more of the same”, Bush-Cheney style, can only result in “more of the same” which has already cost the country and the majority greatly.

I think any proposition by anyone at this point is better than the status quo. Our country can't suffer four more years of the same thing.

Funny how Republicans are saying we can't suffer four more years when they subjected us to 8 years of failed policies under Bush administration. Now you act like someone else elected Bush and we should trust you know what's best for America. We're not falling for it again!

But you are willing to go back to the policies that got us to this point. Only a stupid person would do the same everytime but expect different results. Thats about where we are going with this.

Didn't Sarah Palin use that same ploy? "I have a plan to fix that, I'll tell what it is after I'm elected"

        Connie,
Before makng such a comment, perhaps you should listen to the story. If you do, you'll hear that her husband is a tax consultant and she is not blaming Mr. Obama or anyone else for anything. She's just saying that the last four years have not developed the way she hoped they would. There is no blame assigned in this story. Respectfully,
        Jim

I'm agree jimroopecnn. We have a right to think that if he promised it would be better now that it should be. We have a right to be disappointed in his tenure. He made the promises. We did not draft him, he applied for the job, and we hired. We have a right to complain about the results of his effort. He shouldn't have promised if he couldn't deliver.

I think a lot of African-Americans agree that some things have not come into fruition under Obama, but it's a lot better than when Bush was in office. Also, where is Mr. Collins? If in the household, what is his contribution, and if not, is he sending any assistance or at least is she getting any child support. Sometimes you have to depend on yourself rather than the POTUS to do everything for you.

        Nyasa,
Not a true comment at all. If you listen to the story, there is no "blame" of anything. She is married, her husband is a tax consultant. She and many others still support the president but they are a bit disappointed in the inability to get the jobs and economy to perform better. She understands what he's up against. She's not blaming anyone for anything.

      History38,
If you'd take time to listen to the story you'd hear that her husband is a tax consultant. She is not blaming Mr. Obama for anything just voicing her opinion on the past four years from her and her families experience. With all due respect,
      Jim
