  • Here we go over the fiscal cliff.  On the final day of negotiations, Democrats and Republicans failed to reach an agreement in time to prevent nearly all Americans from facing big tax hikes.  A a bunch of automatic spending cuts will also kick in tomorrow. CNN's Lisa Desjardins has been covering the events on Capitol Hill:

Foster Campbell remembers when he first heard about the high cost of calling home from prison:

[2:33] "It was the biggest rip off that I've ever seen. An absolute scam being put on in the jails."

Campbell serves on the Public Service Commission in Louisiana. Recently, he championed a measure that reduced the cost of a prison phone call by 25 percent. For him and other activists it's important that families can easily afford to keep in touch with their loved ones.
