(CNN) – President Obama uttered more than 6400 words Tuesday night. So we’ve decided to focus.
We're looking at just a few key issues and numbers that bring a deeper understanding of the debates involved.
Example? $100 Billion.
That is the estimated cost of a universal preschool plan put together by the Center for American Progress. President Obama has yet to release details of his plan, including any costs and how he would fund them, but he has indicated he wants a partnership with states, which is the approach the Center for American Progress has taken.
Michael Linden, Budget and Tax Policy Director, Center for American Progress says.
“The cost comes out to, in our estimation, about $100 Billion over ten years. Which I know sounds like a big number but… to put that in perspective, we spend three times on medical research.”
