(CNN) - Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit with President Obama in Southern California this weekend.
Chinese ex-patriots living in Los Angeles say the historic visit is good for both countries.
[1:04] “The two countries; the relationship more better. That is my wish.
Seventy-six-year-old Kit came to the US from China in the 1940s. He says he hopes the visit results in mutual respect between the two countries.
Min Yi is a photo journalist for one of the largest Chinese-language newspapers in North America, the World Journal. She says she hopes Mr. Xi’s visit will spark Americans to learn more about China and clear up some myths.
[3:22] “I think some American people think, some people live in China they do not have some kind of freedom. Yea, maybe they’re kind of true but we are improving this. Now we have so much freedom on the internet. We have the twitter. We have the facebook think and we can talk about anything we want.
This is not the first time Xi will be in California but it is the first time he is the state as China’s president.
