(CNN) -  There’s a mad dash as the Jersey Shore and the beaches of New York prepare for beachgoers.

The summer season gets under way this Memorial Day weekend and, in the wake of the recovery from super-storm Sandy, conditions vary depending on where you choose to set down your beach blanket.

In Belmar, New Jersey, Sandy demolished the boardwalk and all of the businesses along it. But Mayor Matt Doherty says they've come a long way since then:

[1:26] “Epic Construction came in and built this 1.3 miles of boardwalk through the winter in a little over four months which is phenomenal. Performing work outside seven days a week up against the Atlantic in January, February and March is difficult at best. But they did an outstanding job and it’s because of them we’re going to have this boardwalk built in time for Memorial Day Weekend and this summer."

Washington (CNN) – Late this afternoon, the U.S. Senate is voting on and will likely pass what would be the largest expansion of taxes on the Internet.

The plan is called the Marketplace Fairness Act, a bill that gives States the power to insist that online company charge sales tax. (In return for that power, the Senate would require that states simplify their tax codes.)

That title, “Marketplace Fairness Act” points to the political problem here. This is a tax bill in a time when taxes are political outcasts. Why is the Senate poised to pass it now?

[2:45] "Because government is actually desperate for revenue, they’re looking at absolutely every corner they can hit," says Christopher Morris, chairman of the philosophy department at University of Maryland

State governments need money. However, the votes probably would not be forthcoming if the bill were called “The Increase Taxes On The Internet Act."

(CNN) – The Northern Snakedhead fish is not going to win any beauty contests.

With a mouth full of sharp teeth beneath bulging eyes, the invasive predator – native to waters in China and Russia – may be threatening the balance of the ecosystem of the  Harlem Meer, a man-made lake in New York’s Central Park.

[2:46] “It can attack and feed on the other fish that are there which would disrupt the water body,” said Rodney Rivera of the New York State Department of Environmental Protection. “The fact that it breaths and it spends some of its time above water it’s kind of an interesting one to most folks.”

Some urban fly fisherman have come to the lake in hopes of being saviors to the dozens of turtles, ducks and schools of carp that live there.

Robert Burstein was trying to hook one of the nefarious fish..

(CNN) – Welcome to CNN Radio News Day. Here's some of the stories we are covering in today's show:

  • Three more people are behind bars today, in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings. All are 19-year-old males – Dias Kadyrbayev, Azamat Tazhayakov, and Robel Phillipos. Charges against the teens suggest they helped the accused bombers and obstructed justice by throwing-out evidence. CNN's Brian Todd that evidence included a backpack filled with fireworks, a jar of vaseline, and a homework assignment:

"They removed that (backpack), at least one of them, put that in a black trash bag and into a dumpster, and that was then taken to a landfill. Investigators later found that backpack in the landfill with those items in it." FULL POST

The Big Three: Do Muslims really hate terrorism?

(CNN) - This week on The Big Three, we tackle the George W. Bush library opening, frustration over flight furloughs (complete with congressional finger-pointing) and Dean Obeidallah's CNN.com column, "I'm a Muslim and I hate terrorism," which seems sadly necessary in the wake of Boston.

The opening of a presidential library is supposed to be a time for national unity. All the living presidents attend, standing together for a photo op and offering complimentary speeches about the newest inductee to the ex-presidents' club.

But during all the same pageantry in Dallas at the opening of Bush's library, a less civil debate on the Big Three (and across the country) was going on about 43's legacy. Margaret Hoover is a proud Bush administration alumna and attended the opening in Dallas. Dean, it is fair to say, is not a Bush fan. At all.
