Sunday Playlist: New Beginnings

By Susanna Capelouto, CNN

Welcome to the Sunday playlist where we bring you interesting audio selections from around the world.

  • As 2013 begins it may be a good idea to contemplate gratitude.  This commentary produced by KQED in San Francisco is a wonderful tribute to the human spirit and fitting for the beginning of a new year.

  • This week we welcomed a new U.S. Congress with high hopes the  bitter partisan divide may soften as new members take their seats in the House and Senate.  Reporter Andrea Seabrook brings us a sobering and entertaining view of Congress in this latest installment of her podcast DecodeDC
  • And finally,  this year may bring safety to women in India.  Deutsche Welle Radio spoke with Indian lawyer  Vrinda Grover who is fighting to change Indian laws to protect women on the streets.  The move comes after the brutal gang rape of a medical student who later died of her injuries.
