(CNN) - President Obama has proposed significant gun and ammunition reform. But he faces a steep climb to convince Congress to make all of his proposals reality.

(CNN) – Welcome to CNN Radio News Day.

  • U.S. President Barack Obama is promising to reign in America's gun violence. Today he urged Congress to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines with more than ten bullets.  The president says he also wants background checks on all gun sales.  In addition, Mr. Obama signed 23 executive orders which allow him to act on some measures without lawmakers' approval:

"This will be difficult. There will be pundits and politicians and special interest lobbyists publicaly warning of a tyrannical all-out assault on liberty."   FULL POST
