(CNN) – Welcome to CNN Radio News Day.

  • Lawmakers in Washington may have finally found a way to unwittingly cut federal spending. The blind cuts, known as sequestration, were really only meant to be a threat to force Congress into budget negotiations. But that hasn't really happened, with now two days to go before the deadline. On Friday, President Obama will meet with Republican leaders at the White House. But there's pessimism on whether anything will get done. Republican governor of South Carolina, Nikki Haley, says it's hard to believe:

"Something is wrong, my kids could go and find $83 billion out of a $ 4 trillion budget. This is not rocket science, what this is, is an inability to want to get to work. No one should be going home, no one should be playing golf, no one should be taking vacations." FULL POST
